Polestar has revealed its first ever SUV and it's safe to say - things are looking pretty good for the Swedish brand. Meet the Polestar 3, with ‘3’ suggesting that it is the brand’s third vehicle.
The 3 gets Polestar’s boxy shape and borrows design cues from the 1 and 2 along with some pretty cool looking headlights that have a dual blade look and five-sided "grille" that hides advanced radars. The coupe-like roofline and 21- and 22-inch wheel options look to have come from the precept concept.
Ever since it became an independent entity, Polestar has been stressing on the need to become eco-friendly and use sustainable materials in its cars. With the 3, Polestar has used a whole host of sustainable materials and is giving customers the option of choosing from three different materials for the interior - “bio-attributed MicroTech, animal welfare-certified leather and fully traceable wool upholsteries.”
The 3 has been launched with a rear-biased dual-motor powertrain which produces 483bhp and 618lb ft of torque without the Performance package. The package adds an extra 27bhp and 51lb ft of torque.
The Polestar 3 is capable of doing 0-62mph in 5.0sec (with the performance package shaving off 0.3 second) and going on to a top speed of 130mph.
Step inside and you will find a 14.5-inch touchscreen sporting the latest version of Polestarr’s Android Automotive operating system. The OS features built-in Google Maps, Google’s voice assistant, over-the-air updates and wireless Apple Car Play.
For enhanced entertainment, the Plus pack equipped 3 will be having a 25-speaker Bowers & Wilkins system. Along with that, it also has soft-close doors, a heated steering wheel and rear seats and 22 inch wheels over the standard 3.
The Pilot pack, on the other hand, has all the active safety equipment, like Pilot Assist - Polestar’s version of an adaptive cruise control - and parking assist along with a heads up display.
The 3 will have a 111 Kwh battery pack residing in the floor which promises a range of upto 610km. That is impressive!
Orders for the 3 have commenced for major markets from October 12 with deliveries set to take place in the fourth quarter of this year.
